Lindsay Lohan claims she would never experiment with drugs - after watching her father self-destruct through substance abuse.

The actress's dad, Michael Lohan, is currently serving a four-year prison sentence for a number of offences, including assault and drink-driving, and has battled for years against alcohol and cocaine addictions.

Lindsay, 19, claims watching her father's downward spiral has left her completely uninterested in drugs because she has witnessed first-hand the misery they cause.

She confessed: "I've never tried cocaine and I never would. I've seen my father, I've seen how it messes with families and screws up your life."

Publicists Lock Down Lindsay Lohan

Are we entering a new era of publicist lockdowns? Today’s Page Six describes how Angelina Jolie’s lawyer warns journalists that they can’t discuss her personal life or use their interview “in a manner that is disparaging, demeaning or derogatory to Ms. Jolie,” and now Lindsay Lohan, out junketeering for Herbie: Fully Loaded has a list of banned topics that turns interviews into meta-discussions of her life. For an 18-year-old, the number of off-limits categories is daunting. Reporters are warned that questions about her father or her recent weight-loss are verboten as are the various extracurriculars that have made her a tabloid favorite since before she could vote. Fortunately, Lohan is perfectly happy to talk about the reasons why she can’t talk about so many things.

“I think there’s become an obsession with the celebrity status right now, just buying the tabloids and feeding into it,” she sighs. “It’s hard, because people who don’t necessarily know me on a personal level, they’re going to believe whatever they read, which is understandable.” […]

“I’m a very honest person and I feel like I’m very sincere and I don’t take anything for granted and I feel blessed and lucky and I’m appreciative and I’m thankful,” she says. “And I’m not some crazy, Tara Reid-esque party girl. I want to be in this for the long run.”

This all sounds terribly restrictive for an artist, but at least after she works through all of her flack-approved talking points (blessed, lucky, humble, good, et. al.) Lohan’s allowed a minute for freeform personal expression, like throwing Tara Reid under the drunken-slut bus.

The 19-year-old star is determined to retain her integrity as an actress, and would love budding starlets to regard her as a role model for her stoic principles.

She says,"You don't see Julia Roberts going naked or going against her natural beauty. She never has. And look what a great body of work she has. No pun intended.

"The people I've always admired, like Jodie Foster and Julia Roberts, have not had to compromise themselves.

"Some day I'd like someone to say that about me."

Lindsay Lohan On The Loose in Minnesota

While it may seem to the casual Lindsay Lohan observer that the starlet has toned down her partying ways lately, true fans (read: obsessed bloggers) know that the relative quiet on the Lohan front is due to her presence in Minnesota, where she’s shooting Robert Altman’s A Prairie Home Companion. Luckily, her antics have been captured by the local media there, where she’s been seen getting carded and acting “hyper-active” while shopping at a local vintage clothing shop:

“One of my personal philosophies is to try not to jump to too many conclusions about people,” said [shop manager] Menendez. “You know, she’s 19 and she lives in a whole different environment; a whole different dimension from the rest of us. I just chalk it up to a tight shooting schedule.”

How typically Minnesotan of Menendez to offer up excuses about behavior she was not inclined to confirm. Maybe Ella should be an NYC publicist!

“Well, I think, the description I can give you honestly is that she acted like she was on too much coffee,” said Menendez. “And I’ll leave it at that.”

You just know that Lohan’s flack, Leslie Sloane, jotted down that “too much coffee” freebie, which will allow her to mix in a new excuse (the “puberty” line is already stale, and “exercising too hard” only has one or two more turns left) every time Lohan’s bony breastplate is featured on the cover of Star.

The St. Paul spy noted: "We wouldn't have even noticed her if it hadn't been for her stupid hat."

Michael Lohan is currently in prison in New York State on charges of drink driving and assaulting his brother-in-law at a family party. He is also estranged from Lindsay's mother DINA - which he blames for their daughter's poor health.

He tells PageSix.Com, "People wonder why Lindsay's so thin. It's because of all this garbage between her mother and me. She's beaten up inside. It's ripped our whole family apart.".
